Speaking to SLAM! Wrestling, Gail Kim explains why she disobeyed WWE by controversially eliminating herself from the Divas Battle Royal on the August 1 episode of Monday Night Raw. She says it was the culmination of all the disrespect she felt from WWE.

“I don’t regret what I did at all. It was a respect thing,” Kim says. “I was told to get eliminated as soon as possible, so that’s what I did. I saw my decision as a case of either continuing to take their lack of respect or doing something about it.

“Nobody knows what I went through in terms of disrespect during my time there, but that move wasn’t just about me it was a culmination of all the disrespect I felt that all the other women and the women’s division as a whole had received too, I was taking a stand.

“While a lot of fans watching Raw noticed what I did, nobody from WWE noticed, that just shows how much they didn’t care. I went up to Johnny [John Laurinaitis] after and spoke about the Battle Royal and his reaction towards the match was, ‘Yeah, I heard it was pretty shit.’ I was amazed and I then told him how I eliminated myself and he just laughed.

“How can fans take the division seriously if the people working for the company aren’t? If it had been one of the men who had eliminated themselves they would have been punished, but because it was the women nobody cared, not even after I had told them.”

A few days later Kim announced on Twitter that she had quit WWE, however, she was not permitted to bolt. What followed was a standoff between WWE and their former Women’s Champion, which saw her forced to sit out the remainder of her contract.

“WWE are notoriously known for being controlling when it comes to your career, that night of the Battle Royal I went to Johnny and told him I quit, I said I don’t want your money; I just want to be free. He told me that it shouldn’t be a problem, but of course it was,” Kim says.

“They didn’t want me to work elsewhere, at this time I told him, ‘What does it matter if I leave or not? You’re not using me, it’s not like I’m valuable to you just let me go,’ but there was no budging.”

After sitting at home for over two months waiting out the remainder of her contract, Kim finally made her much anticipated return to TNA Wrestling on the October 20 episode of Impact Wrestling, when she aligning herself with Madison Rayne and Karen Jarrett. Being a TNA Knockout means everything to her.

“I’m just so excited to be back in the company, I can’t speak for anybody in particular but the feeling I got when I came back was that there were no hard feelings about my previous decision to leave. Being back here feels like time has never passed.

“I think everyone kind of expected me to return. I said in my last interview when I was leaving that I would probably be back, everyone has been real welcoming, it’s like being a part of a family here at TNA. It’s great to see the growth that this company has made since I’ve been gone, it’s nice to see the direction its going and where they want to be heading.”

She adds, “I’m just so happy to be here and to now be a part of a company once again that actually cares about wrestling.”

The UK Sun newspaper has an interview with former WWE Diva and current TNA Knockout Gail Kim. In the interview, Kim talks about her WWE return and criticisms of the way the Divas are used.

“I heard many times that they want the Divas to be girly. They didn’t care about the heel girls getting any heat. We just didn’t understand. They did everything in their power, it seemed, to take everything to give us a good match, for the heels to get any heat. It was no kicking one week, or no punching the next. No this, no that. It was at the point where I was asking whether we could do anything at all,” Kim said.

When asked if she feels people within WWE paid attention to TNA and her feud with Awesome Kong, she said, “Everyone in the office acted like they had never seen our stuff, which makes me laugh because Johnny hired me back for a reason. It’s funny how people in the office act like they never watch TNA, follow TNA or know anything that’s going on with TNA. In my opinion they are all lying! They all knew who Kia was after what she and I did in TNA. They hired me back for a reason. If I was doing nothing during that time I don’t think I would have got hired back.”

In a live shoot interview tonight, Gail Kim spoke on record for the first time about why she quit WWE, the Divas division and walking out of a battle royal on Raw in her final appearance.

A few highlights below:

* Gail reveals that the Divas today are told: “You’re getting too physical” and “You’re getting too good”, indicating that they don’t want the women to upstage the male wrestlers.

* Gail says she got the opportunity to be in a documentary about successful Korean people but WWE wouldn’t let her do it.

* Gail says winning Knockouts Title meant more than winning Women’s Title because it wasn’t just handed to her. She says she was part of building the division and that made it more special.

* Low-Ki told her about Awesome Kong (Kharma). When they were talking about who to bring in for the division, Gail said why don’t we bring in Kong — she had never seen her work or even a picture of her but thought she would be unique for the division.

* As far as she knows, she never knew of ideas for her to work with Kharma in WWE in a storyline, but they had plans to have her work Kharma’s first singles match.

* Gail says the plan was for Kharma to feud with Beth Phoenix.

* Gail says the Knockouts never talked about their pay in TNA. Any frustration was between talent and office, not with each other.

* Gail on leaving TNA: She was in contract negotiations, but was having financial issues. She says the pay she was being offered, she couldn’t accept at that time. WWE reached out and offered her more money. She said she spoke to everyone in the TNA office and bawled when she spoke to Jeff Jarrett. She says: “When life takes over, you have to do what you have to do to pay your bills.”

* On re-signing with WWE, Gail says Johnny Ace told her that the creative team was so excited to have her back and had ideas for her. Hmm… really?

* Gail says she was offered a training position in FCW but turned it down because she felt she still had a lot to offer in her career.

* Gail says every week there’d be a new rule for the Divas like “no kicking”, “no punching” etc. “It was so frustrating.” WWE wanted “more girliness” in Divas matches.

* Gail says it’s sad that the Women’s Title was retired. WWE needs two titles for both shows. She says the Divas were sad about it.

* Gail reveals that she had four boob jobs. She says she never felt pressure from WWE to do it and even asked her mom in high school to have breast implants. “No pressure.” Never heard a story about there being pressure.

* Gail says she heard rumors that the Daniel Bryan/Bella Twins storyline ended because the network thought it wasn’t heading in a very PG direction, so she was brought in as his girlfriend to end the storyline. Gail says fans, Vince and Kevin Dunn loved the Gail/Bellas catfight when she was revealed as DB’s girlfriend.

* Gail says she was ready to quit the day that she was revealed as Daniel Bryan’s girlfriend, but prolonged it because she was finally being used.

* Gail says she felt slapped in the face and disrespected by a series of events and doesn’t take back her action of eliminating herself in the Divas battle royal. She recalls one instance when she went out to the ring with Daniel Bryan as his manager, but when she got to ringside, she was told to go to the back. She had just stood in 10 minutes in gorilla position with Vince and others there, however she wasn’t told she wasn’t supposed to go out. Agents told her she was going out. However, when she went out there, she was told to go back. She felt disrespected and spoke to Johnny Ace.

* Gail says she felt frustrated in WWE. She had been approached about re-signing by Johnny Ace but said she definitely wasn’t going to re-sign. She didn’t know how much longer she was going to last. The night of the battle royal came on Raw. She felt that the Divas were treated as a joke but tried to make the best of every situation. She says the battle royal came and they were told, “Everybody has to get out of the ring as fast as possible in the first minute”. She says other things happened that day but won’t reveal what happened. She felt disrespected at that moment and wanted to be disrespectful back, thus eliminating herself. She does admit it was childish. She went to the back & none of the agents or higher-ups noticed that she had eliminated herself. Later on in the night, she quit and told Johnny that he eliminated himself and he laughed! They didn’t notice or care.

* She says when she quit, Johnny Ace offered her the training role in FCW again but she turned it down. She says he wouldn’t let her quit. She said she wanted walk away & offered to give up the money. They told her she has to wait for her contract to run out. They didn’t want her working for any other wrestling companies.

Gail says she went into the locker room at Raw and announced to the Divas that she had quit. Everyone was shocked and sad.

Gail says she told Johnny to stop controlling her. She just wanted to be free. She says she told them to keep their money but they wouldn’t let her walk. They had a lawyer call her and explain the ‘legal repercussions’ of her quitting.

* Gail on WWE hiring models instead of independent wrestlers: She says that’s what it is right now. Girls like Beth and Natalya are a rare breed. She thinks women can be a draw & have kick ass matches.

* Regarding “that match” with Mickie James: They were very excited to have the match and planned too much. She wasn’t injured. They tried to call it on the fly but it didn’t work. She says, “We’re human”.

* Gail says she’d love for the girls to be treated equally. She wants to see them be given the same opportunities as the men. It’s frustrating being held down. She says the Knockouts division is proof that people want to see women’s wrestling.

Former WWE Diva Gail Kim will speak for the first time on quitting WWE and much more tonight in a live shoot interview on Internet pay per view.

You can order the event by signing up here.

The subject will be former WWE Diva and TNA Knockout Gail Kim. She will finally break her silence after quitting WWE when she eliminated herself from a battle royal on Raw.
Order now at www.WWNLive.com for just $12.95. This shoot will also be available at WWNLive.com On Demand, which means if you purchase it you can watch it as many times as you want forever. There is no editing. There is no taking anything back.
The interview will start with Kim discussing her entire career, including everything that led to her walking out of WWE on live TV. You can ask follow up questions during this part of the interview via the WWNLive.com chat room or on Twitter @BookItGabe. Once Kim gives all the scoops, we’ll turn the interview over to you. Ask anything you want! This is live iPPV so who knows what will happen.

Here’s just a few of the questions that we’ll ask Gail tonight when she walks into The Hot Zone at WWNLive.com at 8pm Eastern Time:

-What made you go into wrestling?

-Did you have a problem with the guys coming onto you when you were breaking in?

-How did WWE discover you?

Former WWE star Gail Kim who has been recently departed from company has booked her first match since leaving the WWE. Gail Kim will fight against TNA Knockout Traci Brooks on November 19th in Meadville, PA. Melina who was released the same day that Gail confirmed she was quitting will make her in ring return for WSU. Gail Kim’s match taking place for the International Wrestling Cartel promotion.

Gail Kim and Tracy Brooks are close friends and worked together for a number of years and they both came up around the same time. Most likely just a fun match or something.

After saying that she quit this past Monday it looking that Gail Kim will remain under contract with WWE until it expires. Gail Kim updated everyone on the situation via Twitter yesterday. This is the current situation four every one who is asking I quit last mon. And apparently after a total of 5 yrs of working for a co. where I was not utilized or appreciated,I am now for some reason, valuable enough to keep me under the remainder of my contract so I can not work elsewhere.

Gail Kim signed her current WWE contract late 2008 which was most likely a three year deal. Her deal should be up in the next couple months where she can decide not to renew her contract and leave the company for good.

During Monday night battle on Raw fans may have missed a Gail Kim eliminating herself from the match by rolling under the bottom rope. Gail has been asked an abundance of questions about her unusual elimination responding to one fan that she did in fact eliminate herself on purpose.

Gail Kim commented: “oh and also on the contrary, I wasn’t being a mark 4 myself I was being a good employee when ur told to get out of the ring in less than a min.I just did it the fastest way possible:)so really I saved some time!”

Watch Gail’s elimination at the 00:35 second below:

I m thinking exactly the same. I hope that this is infact some kind of work.
By the looks of things it seems that some of the divas are rebelling. I just hope Gail is part of this as well.
