Trish Status The New Host Of Raw

The WWE Diva of the Decade winner and Seven-time Womens Champion, Trish Stratus made her triumphant return to Toronto once again as she was the guest host for the 9/14/09 edition of Monday Night Raw. The event saw Trish schedule herself into a match later on the show, after Beth Phoenix and Chris Jericho began taunting her backstage. Trish arranged to have a mixed gender match with a partner of her choosing to help her face Beth Phoenix and Jericho. Later on that partner was revealed to be Montell Vontavius Porter, aka “MVP” who came out to do battle just one night after being part of a match at Breaking Point.

Things seemed in MVP & Trish’s favor, until Big Show came to the ringside area to attack MVP. The ref called for the bell to award Stratus and MVP the win by disqualification of Jericho/Beth. Mark Henry soon rushed down to the ring to aid his partner MVP. Trish Stratus wasn’t happy with a DQ win and told everyone that the match would go down as a six person tag, with Show and Henry joining the match.

Trish Stratus’s handpicked partner wasn’t the only surprise tonight. Raw’s guest host announced that she would team with MVP against Beth Phoenix & Chris Jericho. As the match got underway, however, Jericho’s fellow Unified Tag Team Champion Big Show reared his shiny head and interfered in the match.

The distraction provoked Stratus to announce that the match would not end on such a dastardly note. Instead, Stratus informed the audience that a six-person bout was taking place that moment: Stratus, MVP & Mark Henry vs. Phoenix, Jericho & Show.

Stratus proved that since her retirement, she’s hardly lost a step. The seven-time Women’s Champion overcame the significant strength and size of The Glamazon to lead her team to victory.

After the match, it was announced that, next week, Raw’s guest host will be a little less Diva and a lot more down. Monday night, the WWE Universe welcomes actor and funny man Cedric the Entertainer.

The WWE Universe rejoiced when it was announced that seven-time Women’s Champion Trish Stratus would be the guest host for next Monday’s Raw. The beautiful Diva, who retired in 2006, will bring her gorgeous smile and, if necessary, her devastating Stratusfaction bulldog to the Air Canada Centre in her hometown of Toronto next Monday night.

Current WWE Divas Mickie James and Tiffany, as well as former WWE Diva Trish Stratus were among celebrities who took part in this year’s 300 event, taking special needs children from Canada to Disney World. This is the 20th anniversary of the charity event, which received some coverage in the Canadian press.
