WWE Divas 2009 Night Of Champions Results
New Divas Champion Mickie James defeated Maryse.
Though doused in the face with perfume by Maryse less than a week before battling for the Divas Championship, Mickie James emerged smelling like a rose after defeating the conceited French Canadian to capture the WWE butterfly.
The satisfying victory comes after weeks of taunting and interference by the snobbish former Divas Champion. The win also propels Mickie into rare company indeed; she joins Women’s Champion Michelle McCool as the only other women to have captured both the Divas Title and Women’s Title. The milestone did not appear to go unappreciated by Mickie as she celebrated her landmark victory.

For a while, the WWE Universe may have thought Michelle McCool was all talk – boasting that she was the greatest Diva in the history of WWE – without backing up her claims. But in the City of Brotherly Love, the former schoolteacher pulled out the hard-fought victory over a formidable foe in Melina, retaining her gold.

They’ve got legs. And they certainly know how to use them. Compliments of Gibbons and Hill, leggy Divas Alicia Fox & Rosa Mendes took on Kelly Kelly & Gail Kim in a ZZ Top “Legs” Match. When the air had finally cleared, long, tall Fox carried the day for her team by managing a pin against Kelly Kelly.

Going one-on-one with any Superstar or Diva is quite a daunting task, and when it becomes two-on-one, the odds seem insurmountable; at least that’s what Katie Lea Burchill has experienced as of late. When the English Diva seems to have the win in her hands, Brie & Nikki pull the all too familiar switch-a-roo leaving Katie back up against a fresh opponent. This week was no different either as after Brie was sent to the outside by Katie Lea, Nikki laid down next to her and claimed to be the real Brie. When the referee had to differentiate between which was which, it was Nikki who he thought was really Brie, which left Brie on the outside and Nikki, the fresh sister, on the inside to roll up Katie Lea for the win for Brie. If you think that’s confusing, you should try being the one trying to fight against them.

Though Maryse seemed to be intimidated by Mickie James in recent weeks, the Divas Champion sent a clear message to her Night of Champions opponent by pinning her to win the match for her team.
